Wine information
The hand-picked grapes for this Blaufränkisch come from young vineyards in Jois, in principle from vineyards on limestone and slate, which were later used for the Blaufränkisch called "Kalk & Schiefer". The young vines are used to produce a wine that can also be drunk young. The fruit was destemmed and fermented spontaneously in wooden fermentation racks. Then the wine was slowly fermented on the mash for two months and then aged in used 500-litre barrels and bottled unfiltered as well as unfined.
Color
between purple and violet
Nose
Next to the white Elektra there is now also a red one. It smells of freshly fermented grapes, yeast, earth, ink and dark fruit like fresh elder juice with a few cherries. You don't want to sniff for long, you want to drink it!
Palate
On the palate, the wine has the depth in darkness and earthiness typical of Blaufränkisch, but at the same time the wine also seems airy, light and almost floating. It dances on the tongue, showing itself cheerful and carefree. The purple Elektra has plenty of juice and just the right amount of tannin to give the wine structure without making it top-heavy, and further enough acidity to make it fizz.
