Wine information
Fontane Bianche, a tribute to the brilliant white of the barren, chalky soils where the Catarratto vine thrives most magnificently. With nuanced precision, a subtle dose of 5% Zibbibo or Moscatel d'Alexandrie is blended in to reveal a gentle touch of aroma to the idiosyncratic Catarratto.
Vinification
The grapes are carefully pressed and then macerated on the skins for 24 hours under temperature control. After a spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine enjoys six months of maturation on its lees before hitting the shelves.
Color
The lively golden yellow shines in flawless copper reflection.
Bouquet
Feel the power of ripe vineyard peach, the hint of lemon zest, lemon pastry and dried flowers embedded in a lush herbal field of sage, sorrel and wild mint. Remarkable traces of soy, dried pastry, mussel shell and seaweed give the fragrance an unexpected umami depth.
Palate
The 2021 Fontanebianche from Vino Lauria is without doubt a profound wine. On the one hand, you sense a tart, pithy complexity, while on the other, a seductive fruitiness unfolds, underpinned by a lively, fresh acidity. The perfect balance between saltiness and sweetness give it a captivating character. The lingering finish leaves you irresistibly wanting more, and raises the question of how such a spectacular wine can be so inexpensive.
Food recommendations
Try this wine with a fine rocket salad with mandarins, black olives, almonds and rosemary. Or with a delicacy of scallops, lime and baby artichokes. A Veal Schnitzel with a port wine sauce and citrus gremolata would also be an excellent choice.
