Wine information
Coming from the highlighted Lapis site, this exquisitely late harvest Furmint »Teraszok« vintage 2018 presents carefully selected biodynamically produced grapes picked on 21 September 2018. In a gentle process, they were slowly pressed and spontaneously fermented in unique 2.25 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels. After six exciting months, the wine was bottled at 13.5 % alcohol, an enticing 46 grams of residual sugar and a refreshing 4.9 grams of acidity at a pH of 3.4.
Color
The wine's charm shines in a radiant, rather light golden yellow.
Nose
The Late Harvest Furmint »Teraszok« exudes a convincingly dry, mysteriously dark and spiced aroma of malty chicory, a hint of tobacco and solid stone, accompanied by the sweetness of dried apricots, the earth of wild mushrooms and the intensity of black tea. These are joined by hints of green and golden apples and a citrus-fresh breeze.
Palate
The lush attack in the mouth is evenly balanced by sweetness and acidity. The interplay of fruitiness and a spiciness as dark as it is stony, coupled with clean and elegant botrytis, is palpable. The flavour unfolds with ripe stone fruit, crunchy pome fruit and the vibrant fruit zest of citrus, which harmonise perfectly with earthy mushroom notes and the hint of tea. The acidity appears rather discreet on the palate, unlike what the nose initially suggests.
Food recommendations
Enjoy with quail pâté on a creamy foaming stock, onsen egg and Perigord truffles, for an East Asian twist, stuffed banh xeo, Vietnamese crepes, would be a good choice or treat yourself to a classic sweet apple tart to top it off.
