Minustellu

In Corsica, the demanding Graciano grape variety possesses its very own, fascinating identity under the name Minustellu. On the island’s barren, sun-drenched soils, it yields deep, dark wines characterised by a distinctive spiciness, vibrant acidity and a fine-grained, firm tannic structure. Typical of Minustellu is a wild, ethereal aromatics reminiscent of the Corsican maquis, dark wild berries and black pepper. In cuvées, it often acts as a structuring backbone, lending the wines freshness and considerable ageing potential. Just how harmoniously this rustic originality integrates is demonstrated by Domaine Vico with the cuvée »U Fornu«. Here, Minustellu combines with Niellucciu to create a characterful red wine, where the juicy sour cherry fruit and animating freshness of Niellucciu meet the herbal depth and dense foundation of the Minustellu grape.
