Malbo Gentile

Also known as: Malbo, Malbo di Parma

An almost forgotten red grape variety from Emilia-Romagna, only rescued from obscurity in recent years. Malbo Gentile has nothing in common with Argentine Malbec – the name is pure coincidence. The grape produces light, fragrant red wines with floral notes, little tannin and moderate acidity. For a long time it was considered too inconspicuous for cellar ageing, too neutral in flavour, not distinctive enough. It is precisely this restraint that makes it interesting again today – for winemakers who are not seeking maximum extraction.

Cinque Campi vinifies Malbo Gentile as a rosato and as a light red wine – fragile, yet precise, without any exaggeration.
