Malbo Gentile

In the hills of Emilia-Romagna, the deep, dark Malbo Gentile has a long tradition. Mostly valued as a partner that adds colour and structure, it brings a dense fruit of dark forest berries, sour cherries and a fine, Mediterranean-influenced herbal spice to the region’s cuvées. It lends the wines a velvety texture and a supporting foundation without stripping them of their essential freshness.

How lively and characterful this autochthonous variety presents itself in interplay is demonstrated by the Cinque Campi winery. In their traditionally bottle-fermented Rosso Frizzante, Malbo Gentile enters into a harmonious alliance with Lambrusco and Marzemino. The result is a deep purple, pleasantly dry sparkling wine which, with its fine spice and animating juiciness, is an ideal companion to the hearty specialties of Emilian cuisine.
