Wine information
The Oestricher "Quarzit" has its origins in the Oestricher Doosberg, Klosterberg and Lenchen sites. The soil is humus-rich and sometimes somewhat clayey loess loam, interspersed with grey quartzite. The water supply in the Doosberg is optimal. The roots of the vines receive enough moisture and can still supply the grapes sufficiently even in hot summer months.
Information on the expansion
100 % Hand harvest, gentle whole bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation with the natural yeasts, ageing on the full lees until the end of March in large wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Color
Bright lemon yellow with green reflections.
Nose
Seductive floral and citrus aromas flow into the nose of the 2019 Riesling Quarzit, accompanied by exotic hints of young mango, orange peel and passion fruit. Notes of lime blossom, yarrow, ginger and aniseed are also in the mix. With a little maturity, it will show itself even more splendidly.
Palate
On the palate, the 2019 Riesling Quarzit offers a juicy fruitiness and an accentuated acidity, which already leads to a wonderful drinking flow at this stage. But here, too, a little patience is required, as with all fantastic Rieslings from Kühn, which only reveal their full complexity with a little time.
