Colour & Appearance

A transparent garnet red – luminous, clear, without a trace of heaviness. Already in the glass, it announces what the name promises: immediacy.

Nose

The nose is seductive and direct. Red and black currant, fresh cherry juice and a hint of elderflower open the bouquet, carried by violet flowers and a delicate touch of cinnamon. All of this is remarkably appetising – fresh, transparent, without detours.

Palate

On the palate, a fascinating interplay of contrasts unfolds: warmth and coolness, juiciness and freshness. Red fruit, pomegranate juice and red peach give the wine an elegant depth, whilst earthy undertones ground it. Despite palpable substance, it remains remarkably light and ethereal.

Finish

A vibrant, lively acidity and refined tannins create a long, crisp finish with plenty of drive. Not a gram of excess – the wine ends as precisely as it begins.

Grape Variety & Vinification

The Mondeuse Noire, Savoie’s most idiosyncratic red wine grape, shows its most elegant side here. A 72-hour semi-carbonic maceration gives the wine its fruity immediacy, before it continues fermenting in concrete tanks. Ten months of maturation on the lees in multi-year old barrels, minimal sulphur addition, no fining, no filtration – a wine that doesn’t hide.

The winery Orchis works in Savoie, one of France’s most exciting and yet underrated wine regions. The alpine influences – cool nights, clear mountain air – unmistakably shape the natural freshness and precision of this wine.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Ideal with Raclette de Savoie – a regional pairing that could hardly be better. Equally convincing with bratwurst with mashed potatoes and green beans or crispy vegetable samosas. A wine for the table, not for the cellar.
