Wine description for Beaune rouge AOC 2021 by Henri & Gilles Buisson

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, slightly transparent purplish-red with youthful brilliance – classic for a Village Pinot from Beaune, which prioritises elegance over concentration.
Nose
Initially the wine surprises with earthy undergrowth notes, dry twigs and autumnal leaves – typically Burgundian, authentic, unadorned. Behind this unfolds a dark berry fruit: black cherries, sour cherries and cherry stones, complemented by a hint of cherry cream on dark biscuit. A nose that puts terroir before embellishment.
Palate
Here the true class of this Village wine reveals itself: silky entry that glides across the tongue like liquid velvet, but behind it a surprising structure and tannin presence. The Pinot comes across as fleshy, juicy and pleasantly acidic – a wine with backbone and substance that combines power with finesse. Pure and straightforward, without flourishes or excessive extraction.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from Village sites in Beaune at 220 to 250 metres altitude from 30-year-old vines. An honest Beaune that shows what the appellation can achieve when left to its own devices.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Hand-harvested, partially destemmed, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel. Maturation over 10 to 12 months in a carefully considered blend of barriques (228, 350, 500 litre) and tonneaux, with a maximum of 10% new wood. Bentonite fining, only coarse filtration, minimally sulphited (40-50 mg/l total SO₂). A vinification that minimises intervention and allows the wine to retain its identity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with charcuterie with Lomito de Bellota and Chorizo, Filet Mignon with ratatouille or spelt risotto with mascarpone and chanterelles. A versatile companion for autumnal cuisine.
Special Features
A Village Beaune that proves you don’t need a Premier Cru site to produce authentic, characterful Burgundy. Crafted with precision, without compromises on quality.
