✔️ TAGANAN BLANCO 2019
Táganan is Guanche (the native Canarian language) for slope. It is also the name of the northwestern part of Tenerife, where the vines grow wild on cliffs of pure volcanic rock directly above the Atlantic Ocean. Táganan Blanco is made from many different white grape varieties (some of which are unidentified) and comes from very old plots planted at an altitude of 75-300 metres and farmed by 15 different families and envínates. The viticulture is very old-fashioned: the vines grow untrained, the soil is worked by hand and no chemicals are used. The north coast of Tenerife has a fairly temperate climate, which allows the grapes to ripen at moderate alcohol levels while retaining a bright acidity. The biggest challenges to growing grapes are the winds from the Atlantic and Africa and the fluctuations in humidity. The grapes are hand harvested, fermented with wild yeasts parcel by parcel (some with extended skin contact) in vats and aged for 8 months in small tanks and used barrels. A touch of SO2 is added at bottling, but there is no fining or filtration.
✔️ TAGANAN TINTO 2019
This cuvée is made from many different red grape varieties native to the Canary Islands, some of them are not identified. Among them, however, always Listan Negro, Listan Gaucho and Malvasia Negro. The plots are very old and planted at an altitude of between 75-300 meters directly on the Atlantic Ocean and are cultivated by 15 different families and Envínate. Viticulture in the Taganan region of Tenerife is very old-fashioned: the vines grow untrained, the soil is worked by hand and no chemicals are used. The wine is fermented with 30% whole grapes in open plastic vats and concrete tanks on wild yeast; it is raised in small tanks and aged for about 8 months in 225 and 500 litre barrels. This is a fresh and aromatic Vino Tinto with notes of spice, smoky minerals and dark fruits - suitable for roasted meats, spicy dishes, game and the Canaries' own red mojo.
✔️ TAGANAN "Parcella Margalagua» 2019
✔️ MIGAN 2019
Migan comes from two very old parcels of Cordon Trenzado (braided vines) Listan Negro. 60% come from the La Habanera parcel on volcanic sand at the highest elevation in the area and 40% from the older San Antonio parcel, which is lower on the slope and has more clay. The parcels were hand harvested, foot tapped and fermented separately (La Habanera with 100% whole clusters, San Antonio 15% whole clusters) in large concrete barrels, then in 228 & 600L old French barrels for lactic acid reduction and aging for 11 months. Bottling is done without fining, filtration or the addition of SO2. Migan is a volcanic mountain wine, high toned and vibrant, with smoky strawberry fruit balanced by fine tannins and refreshing acidity. Pair with roasted meats and spicy seafood dishes.
✔️ BENJE BLANCO 2019
The Benje Blanco comes from several old, untrained parcels of Listan Blanco. Each parcel is hand harvested and vinified separately in a mix of concrete tank and open vats. 75% of the fruit is pressed directly from the skins, while the other 25% is macerated on the skins for 14-40 days at 18-30°C. The wine is then aged for 8 months in 60% concrete and 40% old French barriques on fine lees without battonage or added SO2. The finished wine is clarified with bentonite and bottled without filtration. Benje Blanco is a high tone white wine that shows its volcanic terruño with smoky notes wrapped around a core of fruit supported by Atlantic-inflected, highly developed acidity. Pair it with shrimp, scallops, roasted pork or goat meat.
✔️ ENVINATE BENJE TINTO 2019
✔️ LOUSAS Vino de Aldea Ribeira Sacra DO 2019
Lousas - Is the name, in Galician dialect, or Gallego, for the type of slate soil that predominates in the Amandi subzone in the Ribeira Sacra region.
✔️ ALBAHRA Almansa DO
This wine comes from a single 30 year old vineyard divided into 3 plots at an altitude of 800 meters in the region of Almansa, around the town of Albacete. The grape variety is Garnacha Tintorera (or Alicante Bouchet) and the soils are calcareous, clayey-limestone. The wine is fermented with 50% whole clusters in 4500-liter cement vats on wild yeast, with gentle pigeage and a short maceration of 7 days; it is then aged in cement for 8 months. The result is a remarkably fresh wine with earthy dark fruits and spices - a great wine to pair with savoury dishes such as roasted meats, sausages, mushrooms and rice dishes such as paella or arroz negro. 580 cases produced.
