Nose
Pinot Noir can be very multifaceted. 2021 Les Vercherres is probably one of the leanest variants of this grape variety. On the nose, this is expressed by cranberry, rosehip and plenty of sour cherry. A hint of elderberry and redcurrant provide it with additional sweet and sour accents on the nose. Ripe strawberries are unusual for Pinot Noir at this latitude, but can be discerned quite clearly on the nose alongside raspberries. Overall, it is quite filigree and delicate. Hardly any spice, only subtle ethereal and tart notes enrich it.
Palate
On the palate, it radiates with energy and vitality. With a very slender body and bright fruit, it sings loudly and trumpets at the top of its lungs. It seems juicy, cool and animating. It stands in the glass as if wrapped in silk. On the palate, this is expressed in elegance, finesse and a cool mouthfeel. With an enormously high sip reflex, the berry tones again come to the fore clearly alongside a hint of eucalyptus and mint in the mouth and reverberation. The raspberry in particular dominates the reverberation for a long time.
