In addition to the berry notes of cranberry and blackberry, aromas of pipe tobacco and barley malt, as well as coffee cherry and subtly burnt Russian bread with cocoa shell splinters, convey warmth. - In dark garnet red with a brick-coloured rim, the wine emerges from the glass, slightly translucent, clear and shiny.

Color

In dark garnet red with brick-coloured rim, the wine shows itself, slightly translucent, clear and shiny from the glass.

Nose

Initially a sensory simile and image of a cranberry pear that flatteringly enhances roast venison, this Chiara Boschis Barolo rightly takes its time to open up. Along with the berry notes of cranberry and blackberry, aromas of pipe tobacco and barley malt, as well as coffee cherry and subtly burnt Russian bread with cocoa shell shavings show up, imparting warmth. Over time, the fan opens up its more subtle facets as well, allowing fragrant flavors to emerge. Orange blossoms as well as blood orange juice show up as well as rosehip tea, candied violet blossoms and blue poppy seeds.

Palate

On the palate, the 2014 Barolo Cannubi gravitationally combines the richness of its nobility with the gritty, almost corset-like nature of the 2014 vintage. Underpinning the meaty notes of its aromatic spectrum, it has a ripe, rich and grippy tannin. At the same time, there is a vibrant acidity running through the wine that lifts its heaviness off its hinges and grants it immense longevity. With its reverberating length, almost reminiscent of the peaty, malty echo of an Islay Scotch whisky, it is already terrific, but appreciates being opened in about six years.
