Colour & Appearance

Muted violet-red with a deep, almost black core.

Nose

A beguilingly complex fragrance flows from the glass: intensely juicy sour cherries, cassis, sweet plums and blueberries meet floral nuances of violets and rose petals. Ethereal green accents of thyme, rosemary and boxwood lend depth to the interplay of aromas.

Palate

On the palate, this cool Atlantic red wine is exceptionally refreshing and invigorating. With a slender 12.0% ABV, it possesses a dancing lightness without sacrificing expressive power. The dark berry fruit blends with a stimulating, crisp acidity and a delicate tannin structure. A racy, athletic style of red wine that is significantly closer to a Pinot Noir than to the heavy Spanish cliché.

Terroir & Origin

Hailing from the Val do Salnés, the cool heartland of Rías Baixas in Galicia. The vineyards benefit from sandy granite soils and a westerly exposure towards the Atlantic, allowing cool afternoon breezes to stream through the vines.

Grape Variety & Vinification

A distinctive blend of the almost forgotten, indigenous grape varieties Espadeiro, Pedral and Sousón, harvested from younger vines. Under the direction of brothers Robustiano and Baldomero Fariña and oenologist Jean-François Hébrard, an artisanal red wine of great individuality is crafted here.

Food Pairings

Served slightly chilled, it is a fantastic partner for grilled chorizos with pumpkin purée and coleslaw, spicy poultry skewers with chocolate-chilli sauce or vegetarian croquetas filled with spinach and mushrooms.

An Atlantic red wine off the beaten track: while the region is famous for Albariño, this cuvée demonstrates the fascinating, unvarnished potential of Galicia’s traditional red grape varieties on granite soils.
