Sparkling, dark cherry red
Nose
Trossos Vells is based on old Carignan vines in El Masroig in Montsant. The nose shows intense Mediterranean accents. Animal traits, signs of "Brett" make an appearance, but suit it exceptionally well. Blackberry, sour cherry, cassis and elderberries provide plenty of dark fruit, which comes across as enormously fresh. Rosehip and beetroot provide variety and earthy nuances. Rooibos tea adds a dimension of depth and length. A hint of coconut stands alongside black pepper for light roasted aromas. Black olive and rosemary provide a Mediterranean flair.
Palate
Alfredo Arribas presents us with a dense, yet at the same time polished, fine wine. An enormous number of cool and stony attributes put an elegant stamp on it. The fruit is enormously juicy, but never opulent, instead acidic and taut. Enormously elegant and filigree. Its bloody character supports these thoughts enormously. The tannin is harmoniously integrated and comes across as very delicate. With a lot of elegance and drinking flow, no glass stays full for long here. Acid pressure and minerality work congenially with each other. The berry fruit is increasingly accompanied by a salty component in the finish. Red fruit tea also comes to the fore in the finish.
