Wine Description for Argent Brut 2017 by Gramona

Colour & Appearance
Luminous lemon yellow with silvery reflections, threaded through with a persistently fine, elegant perlage – a visual promise of freshness and finesse.
Nose
Intense and precise in equal measure. Citrus fruits dominate with clear definition, accompanied by white flowers and a subtle walnut note that hints at the yeast ageing. Beneath this shimmer ripe apple and a fine herbal spice – complex, yet never overwrought.
Palate
Here the true class of this Corpinnat reveals itself. Mineral and powerful, with a vibrant, almost saline texture that recalls the limestone soils. The acidity is present, yet perfectly integrated, the perlage fine and persistent. Citrus aromas and apple fruit enliven the palate, whilst a creamy, nutty component lends depth and structure.
Finish
Impressively long and full-bodied. The nutty notes return and meld with a fine creaminess that resonates for minutes to come – a testament to exceptional maturity and artisanal precision.
Terroir & Origin
The Chardonnay hails from the 23-year-old vineyard Mas Escorpí in Penedès, where limestone soils provide the characteristic minerality and tension. A nod to Champagne tradition within Catalan terroir.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay, vinified to the strictest standards: only 50% of the must from whole bunches gently pressed. 44 months bottle fermentation under natural cork, hand-riddled and disgorged. The dosage of merely 6 grams underscores the purity and precision of this limited Corpinnat.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Made for oysters and other fine shellfish. Equally brilliant with pan-fried zander with parsnip purée, scallops or creamy risottos. The minerality also pairs beautifully with aged Comté or goat’s cheese.
Special Features
A tribute to the Champagne forebears of the Gramona family, who brought the art of bottle fermentation to Penedès. Limited production from modest yields – a Corpinnat that sets standards with Burgundian precision and Catalan soul.
