Wine Description for Argent Brut 2017 by Gramona

Colour & Appearance
Luminous lemon yellow with silvery reflections, threaded through with a persistently fine perlage that bears witness to the extended time spent ageing on the lees.
Nose
Precise and multi-layered: citrus fruits and white flowers dominate initially, before walnut notes and a subtle herbal spice unfold. The bouquet is underpinned by ripe apple – an aromatic profile that Champagne connoisseurs will instantly recognise.
Palate
Here the true class of this Corpinnat reveals itself: mineral, powerful and with a saline note that recalls the limestone soils. The fine acidity harmoniously carries citrus aromas and apple fruit, whilst the lively perlage lends the wine structure and dynamism. A creamy, nutty texture brings richness and complexity.
Finish
Remarkably long and full-bodied. The nutty notes dominate the conclusion and leave a creamy, elegant impression that lingers for minutes.
Terroir & Origin
The Chardonnay hails from the 23-year-old vineyard site Mas Escorpí in Penedès, where limestone soils provide the characteristic minerality and freshness. A deliberate homage to Champagne, which once brought the méthode champenoise to Catalonia.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay from low yields. Only 50% of the must is gently pressed from whole bunches. 44 months on the lees under natural cork, traditionally hand-riddled and disgorged. Dosage of merely 6 grams – a Brut that favours elegance over sweetness.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Classically with oysters, where the saline minerality pairs perfectly. Equally brilliant with pan-fried zander with parsnip purée, scallops or aged Comté. Serving temperature: 8-10°C.
Special Features
Certified as Corpinnat – a quality designation for artisanally produced Catalan sparkling wines from organic viticulture. Strictly limited production that embodies Gramona’s philosophy of precision and terroir expression.
