This single-varietal Sciaccarellu is fermented in concrete tanks and conical barrels, followed by weeks of maceration with pigeage and pumping over. This rather light red is aged for one year in the barrels and in demi-muids, and then for several months in tanks. Production 3000 bottles. Intense aromas of red and blackcurrants on the nose. In the mouth elegant fruit, silky tannins, good tension and fine spicy finish.

Nose

What spice rushes out of this Corsican monument. 2020 Monte Bianco is characterised by juniper, allspice and green pepper. Forest floor, undergrowth and ethereal pine cones and twigs, along with tree resin, provide ample contrast to the spices and the restrained fruit. Only with difficulty do sweet cherry, plum and mulberry emerge behind all these loud aromas. A hint of cocoa provides dark accents. Lovage, sage and oregano, as well as dried thyme in particular, now add clear herbal scent marks.

Palate

One awaits this spicy sip of wine with great anticipation. It appears taut and cool at the beginning. This makes it appear elegant and delicate. The fruit shows itself in a clearly small-berried and more acidic way than was initially to be expected. I find this very positive and conducive to the drinking flow. It can show off its juicy core wonderfully. In addition to the fine fruit, it has plenty of room to develop its coolness and minerality. Stony, almost barren, it leaves the palate wanting more. The spicy, especially ethereal nuances reappear in a pleasant form in the finish.
