Wine information

The Mepari is Scarbolo's interpretation of a Pinot Grigio that has not been macerated for long. It comes from the Pozzut vineyard, which has alluvial soils of calcareous-dolomitic origin. The grapes come from the eastern part of the vineyard with the oldest vines, which are around 33 years old. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out using selected yeasts from a Pied de Cuve from the vineyard at a controlled temperature, first in a stainless steel tank and then in a 20 litre barrel. The wine has undergone complete malolactic fermentation naturally. The Mepari matured for 30 months on the fine lees, first in fermentation barrels and then in steel tanks.

Nose

The 2020s Mepari smells intense and full of ripe apples, peaches, grapefruits and nuts with a little crushed lime and herbs, a hint of earthy notes and a hint of dry wood, some beeswax and ripe white flowers.

Palate

On the palate the Pinot grigio juicy and sensual. It is a powerful, expansive wine that has found its centre. At 12.5 vol.-%, it is also rather lean in terms of alcohol and lively in its acidity, with a slight pressure. Above all, the mixture of ripe, juicy fruit and the slightly tart zest as well as the herbs create a successful tension, while a mineral component provides energy.
