Colour & appearance
Deep garnet red with violet reflections – dense, youthful, with a shimmer that promises depth even in the glass.
Nose
Pure finesse: wild raspberries, mulberries and blackcurrants meet elderberry and a hint of sloe. Beneath these mingle elder wood and sage, delicate notes of wood smoke, cinnamon and fine dark chocolate. Juicy, elegant, composed like a fine Burgundy – only from the Loire.
Palate
On the palate it virtually explodes with juicy freshness. Red and dark fruit merges with an acidity one would more commonly seek on the Côte d’Or. Herbs and an earthy-mineral note give the whole its structure. Still youthful, somewhat impetuous – yet a wine of seamless harmony.
Finish
Long and precise, with lingering dark chocolate, dark berries and a mineral trace that resonates long after.
Terroir & origin
Domaine Vacheron cultivates 46 hectares in the Sancerrois and has been BIODYVIN-certified since 2005 – as one of the first estates in the region. Cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron bring experience from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Burgundy (Aubert de Villaine) – this combination of Loire elegance and Burgundian craftsmanship shapes every wine of the estate.
Grape variety & vinification
Pure Pinot Noir – long underestimated in Sancerre, here expressed at the highest level. The domaine’s individual vineyard sites are vinified separately to allow each terroir its own distinct expression.
