Visual
This 2020 Sancerre Rouge "Belle Dame" catches the eye with a deep garnet red hue, punctuated by winking purple inserts.
Aroma
A bouquet of the finest elite pours into the nose. Tiny, aromatic berries - think wild raspberries, mulberries and blackcurrants, paired with hints of elderberry and sloe. Mingling with this basket of fruit are notes of sylvestrian wood and sage. Delicate nuances of wood smoke, cinnamon and luxurious dark chocolate round off the juicy and elegant aroma.
Taste
As soon as it touches the tongue, it unleashes a veritable flavour explosion of juicy freshness. An abundance of red and dark fruits dance with Burgundian acidity. Herbs and a hint of earthy, mineral notes complete the taste. This wine presents itself as if from a single mould, still young and a little wild, but as a perfect alternative to the more expensive Pinots from Burgundy. La Belle Dame is probably the appropriate name for this true beauty.
Food recommendation
Combine this wine with a baked beetroot in a salt crust with fresh berries. Or try it with a poulard breast with bacon, finished with a lentil vegetable and berry balsamic. Another suitable dish would be a roast beef served with stewed kale and truffle sauce.
