Nose
The Le Mont Moelleux presents itself in 2017 inspiringly fresh and clear, even timeless. Already in the fragrance it seems lively and powerful, slightly smoky, as it is the way with the Le Montbut overall quite bright and more open than the sec from the same vineyard. Yellow and green apples form the prelude here, a pineapple on the threshold of ripeness is added, along with curry leaves, saffron, ground stone and the hint of quince and honey wax typical of Chenin.
Palate
On the palate the 2017 Le Mont Moelleux already impressively complex. The 53 grams of sweetness do not seem obtrusive at all, on the contrary, one wonders where he has hidden them at all, so clearly the sweetness is balanced by the 4.9 grams of acidity. The wine is extremely coherent and precise. Especially the acid structure and the vital minerality inspire, as well as the fine notes of Indian spices, tart oranges and stony components. Then in the long finish, the sweetness reminiscent of honey, paired with salted almonds, appears in a furious, long finish. What a coherent wine and what a potential!
