Color
Golden yellow with bright reflections, radiant and clear.
Nose
The 1995 Le Mont Moelleux from the Domaine Huet overwhelms one with its complex aromas, which radiate like a laser from the chalice. The deep, yellow-fruity nose initially appears highly complex, almost bolide, until it is finely parceled out like a kaleidoscope that constantly creates new patterns. In the top note delicate floral aromas of orange zest and acacia blossom, in the heart note yellow fruits such as quince, fully ripe pears and yellow dried fruit. The fruity opulent aromas are complemented by subtly spicy, ethereal notes of rosemary, chervil, some English celery and a handful of curry leaves along with honeycomb and salted caramel.
Mouth
On the palate, the wine radiates minimalist freshness with surprisingly lean stature. The opulence of the nose tightens with each sip into a punchy mineral drink that relentlessly refills the glass with precisely drawn contour. A delicate phenolic gives it polish and contours it in the mouth, while the ripe and incredibly long acidity adds tension and immense length. The wine has a dramatic underlying vibe that is hard to put into words but very easy to put into glasses. Ethereal cool reverberation with fat bass.
