Tasting note from from 29.09.2022, Copyright Sebastian Bordthäuser

Konstantin Weiser and his partner Alexandra Künstler have been making steep-slope wines since 2005. It all began with a small plot in the Ellergrub, which they initially developed with Daniel Vollenweider until the current winery was found in 2008. The pure Riesling winery initially produced exclusively residually sweet wines. Today, the 4.2 hectares of production are divided into dry and residually sweet, with most of the wines being vinified semi-dry and coming exclusively from the Ellergub. The concise phenolic is a guiding theme of Weiser-Künstler's wines, which are always contoured by noble bitters in addition to their concise acidity.

To save the old cultural landscape and the steep slopes, Weiser artists are members of the Klitzekleiner Ring. You could call it preservation by drinking. A good and important mission.

Color

Bright yellow, radiant and clear.

Nose

The ripe fruit of apricots and dried yellow pears is spicily framed by mace, saffron and distinctive notes of linseed oil. The melange of sublime fruit, distinctive spice and concise slate notes presents itself cohesively with sublime calm. Despite the warm vintage, the 2020 Trabener Gaispfad presents itself neatly as if in the finest tailor-made suit made of the best knitted fabric. Closed and profound, it is a clear reflection of its origins.

Mouth

With good pressure, it pulsates on the palate like the rich bass in solid 90s Westcoast hiphop, lowrider included. With salty minerality and striking spiciness, it is phenolically flanked by aromatically contouring bitter notes. A structurally marked wine that tells of its origins with a calm voice rather than primary fruit. The ripe acidity combines with the cool minerality and carries it into the spicy, saline finish with a profound reverberation.
