Wine profile
This notable wine draws its roots from the prestigious Olivier Humbrecht's Clos Jebsal, just below the impressive Grand Cru Brand. A dangerously impressive geological fault, clearly marks the boundaries between the granite formations of the Brand and the gypsum-marl formations of the Keuper. The 1.3 hectares of this distinctive Clos were replanted by Olivier Humbrecht's father, Leonard, in the late 1970s and planted with Pinot Gris in 1983. The southern exposure of the sloping terrain favours rapid grape ripening.
The soil itself is a fascinating composition - deep, cool marl at the bottom and on the terraces, giving way more and more to limestone in the upper regions.
Expansion information
The year 2020 was a decisive year for the wines developed on the Jebsal. The richest Grains Nobles wines have emerged from this terroir, thanks to the strong contrast between the sun-drenched site and the deep marl soil, which has made noble rot possible.
Color
It presents itself in a bright golden yellow.
Nose
This Pinot Gris, vintage 2020, offers a rich bouquet of intense yeasty notes, ripe apples, quince jam, candied walnuts and fruit bread. At the same time, it is infused with a salty note that gives it an elegant freshness and finesse. A Pinot Gris that is both stimulating and charming.
Palate
The palate experience is smooth and sweet, with a pleasant saltiness and refreshing acidity that makes it an excellent accompaniment to meals. Its invigorating acidity and saltiness are particularly effective with heavy dishes and provide a pleasant contrast.
For those who cannot be patient and want to open it immediately, we recommend decanting the wine at least one day before consumption and enjoying it not too cold in large Burgundy glasses.
Food recommendations
Enjoy this wine by pairing it with foie gras with caramelised apples and sesame croutons or with lamb chops in citrus yoghurt sauce. For dessert, we recommend roasted apples with toasted nuts and vanilla cream.
