Info about the wine
This Silvaner comes from 150-year-old ungrafted vines, which the Luckerts have recultivated in the Sonnenberg vineyard in a residential area of Sulzfeld. Recultivated because some of the vines, which naturally only produced very low yields, had already been sawn off by the previous owners. Instead of vinification in double vats, the Luckerts use a 600-litre tonneau used for several years for this wine.
Color
Light golden yellow with delicate green reflections.
Nose
Due to its youth, the 2022 Silvaner Creutz still seems a little closed, but the lively decanting into the carafe immediately helps it to get going. Bright fruits such as sweet pear, yellow apple and honeydew melon are the prelude and are paired with bright flowers and honey, as well as spices reminiscent of ginger and aniseed. This complex wine opens with a charming and lightly fruity flavour.
Palate
At this stage, the palate is characterised by pronounced fruit and fine fruit sweetness. You can sense its mineral complexity, which already shines through, especially in the long finish. A wine from old vines with fantastic development potential that should be forgotten in the cellar for a few years. The impatient would do well to decant it or give it a few days to open in the fridge - a monument of a Silvaner will thank him for it.
