Colour & Appearance

Luminous cherry red with ruby reflections, medium intensity. In the glass, it displays a clear, brilliant texture with fine streaks that suggest structure and concentration.

Nose

Expressive and multi-layered: ripe cherry and blackberry to the fore, underpinned by violet and a hint of liquorice. Subtle spice notes of white pepper and garrigue herbs lend complexity. The oak influence is perceptible, yet elegantly integrated – vanilla and cedarwood without dominance.

Palate

Juicy and precise with vibrant fruit. The 14.5% alcohol is perfectly balanced, lending fullness without heaviness. Dark cherries and plums meet fine-grained, ripe tannins that provide structure without harshness. The acidity is fresh and carries the wine effortlessly – this is modern Tempranillo with classical elegance. Medium to full body, silky in texture.

Finish

Long and well-balanced with lingering fruit aromas. Black cherry and a mineral note persist, accompanied by fine spice notes. No harshness, no heat – merely pure drinking pleasure.

La Poza de Ballesteros comes from a single vineyard site in Rioja, managed according to biodynamic principles. The vineyards benefit from a continental climate with Atlantic influences, which lends the Tempranillo freshness and elegance.
