Wine Description for Invitation Extra Brut Base 2021 1500ml Magnum by Huré Frères

Colour & Appearance
Vibrant straw yellow with coppery shimmer and fine, lively perlage that bears witness to the freshness of this Extra Brut.
Nose
The Invitation lives up to its name: inviting and complex in equal measure. Apricots and peaches dominate, underpinned by pastry notes and a hint of vanilla. These are joined by ripe apple, subtle cherry undertones and a distinctive mineral spice reminiscent of crushed stone – typical of Champagne’s chalk soils.
Palate
On the palate, a precise interplay unfolds: the fine mousseux carries bright stone fruits and citrus notes, accompanied by tree fruits and creamy brioche. Despite its mouth-filling texture, the Champagne remains agile and tension-laden. A pronounced mineral vein runs through the palate, merging with fine herbal spice and building continuous pressure.
Finish
Long and well-balanced: the minimal dosage of 4.5 grams ensures barely perceptible sweetness that harmonises perfectly with the lively acidity. The finale reveals full complexity – mineral, spicy, with lingering freshness.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from premier vineyard sites in the Montagne de Reims (Ludes and Villedommange) as well as from the Vitriat (Vavray Grand). The chalk soils of these terroirs shape the mineral character decisively.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A thoughtfully composed cuvée of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. The base is formed by the 2021 vintage, refined through 25-40% reserve wines from a solera. Disgorged in November 2024 – a Champagne that masterfully unites maturity and freshness.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Excellent as an aperitif, but also with scallops, pan-fried monkfish, poultry pâté or creamy cheeses such as Brie de Meaux. The minerality harmonises perfectly with oysters and seafood.
Special Features
The magnum bottle guarantees optimal ageing conditions. The Invitation is the perfect calling card of brothers François and Pierre Huré – an Extra Brut that combines finesse with substance.
