Red Etna I Vigneri is one of a series of wines made every year from different grape varieties by local winemakers in the old Palmento Caselle press house. Here Etna's old traditional winemaking, which has almost disappeared, is reviving.

Info about the expansion

The Red Etna I Vigneri is a pure, historic and honest wine from Palmento Etneo, produced as always on Etna without refrigeration and without wood finishing, according to biodynamic principles.

Manual harvest in the first and second half of October, maceration of the grapes with skins and stems for 8 days, spontaneous fermentation, without addition of yeast for 8-10 days, aging in terracotta amphorae under the ground for 6 months, minimal filtration and addition of sulfur during bottling.

Average number of bottles produced per year 5,000.

Color

Deep violet red with purple reflections.

Nose

The 2021 I Vigneri Etna Rosso shows dark berry fruit of blackberries, sour cherries, blackcurrant, fig and sloe, strikingly underpinned by a carpet of rosemary, thyme, juniper, violets and wild roses. Notes of black pepper, wood smoke and bacon give it a masculine touch and at the same time, in 2021, it is animated by a wonderful fruity freshness that emerges after a longer opening.

Palate

On the tongue, it appears refreshing and full of fruit with still youthful and at the same time ripe tannin as well as invigorating acidity. Many herbs and salty hints deepen its stimulating and complex structure, which conveys a coolness and immense freshness. A wine that is at the very beginning of its drinking maturity with very good ageing potential. Excellent food companion to a variety of dishes, gladly from the grill.

Please decant with sufficient lead time and serve slightly chilled.
