Info

Grillo was reserved for the production of Marsala for a long time. In 1990, Marco de Bartoli showed the courage and pioneering spirit to make a still wine from it. The grapes come from the Contrada Samperi, which is also the origin of one of his most sought-after wines. He selects very meticulously and strictly from before the press. The spontaneous fermentation takes place in stainless steel. The must is then transferred to used tonneaus and French oak barriques. It rests on the lees for twelve months and undergoes occasional battonage, which helps the wine's texture enormously. The wine is bottled with a minimum of sulphur.

Nose

The nose immediately exudes a Mediterranean touch with great ambivalence. Salt marshes from the north of Germany. Dried herbs such as savory, thyme and lavender complement this fragrance wonderfully. Also dried grass and meadow flowers., It hints at yellow and orange fruits. Mirabelle, khaki, fresh date and fig make a wild but harmonious mix. A hint of dried fruits as well as roasted nuts complement this wonderfully. Very delicate hints of saffron and turmeric. A nuance of honey rounds it off.

Palate

On the palate, it seamlessly continues the aromas of the nose. For the warm temperatures of Sicily, it seems enormously cool and full of finesse. The opulence of the nose is expressed aromatically, but it is slender and fine. Honey as well as saffron come out clearly on the palate, but remain in a tight corset. The Mediterranean and partly Middle Eastern flavours are also repeated. The restrained acidity does not detract from the finesse. Very balanced overall picture.
