Domaine D'Ouréa is located in the heart of the Vaucluse department in the southern Rhône valley in Vacqueyras. The name of the domaine, situated 520m above sea level, is based on Greek mythology and refers to the god of the mountains. With a direct view of Mont Ventoux opposite and the Dentelles de Montmirail, Adrien Roustan's vineyard covers 20 hectares spread over Vacqueyras and Gigondas. The farm has been certified organic since 2012, followed by the conversion to biodynamic farming in 2020, which will be completed with the 2023 vintage.

The Vacqueyras blanc comes from a small parcel of 0.30 hectares planted by Adrien in 2011. The small, east-facing slope consists of blue and yellow loam and is planted to 80% Clairette and 20% Bourboulenc. The grapes are harvested by hand and then pressed together with the raisins. The alcoholic fermentation with own yeasts takes place as well as the subsequent six-month ageing in concrete tanks. Great white Rhône wine!

Color

Light straw yellow with strong reflections.

Nose

The nose resembles the display of a Provencal weekly market and combines all the fully ripe and yellow aromas of plump pears, quinces and Charenta melons, complemented by citrus notes of green mandarin and orange blossom. Spicy accents of fennel, aniseed and chervil as well as floral top notes of jasmine and boxwood complete the joyful round and announce a fruity and juicy Rhône pleasure.

Mouth

On the nose, the 2021 Vacqueyras blanc from Domaine D'Ourea is extremely disciplined and presents itself as a structural experience. Contrary to its fruit promise, it shines aromatically with Mediterranean spices of laurel, wild thyme and olive leaves, as if one were standing in the middle of a southern French garrigue. With cool minerality and a salty finish, it flows tautly over the palate and continues the history of great white Rhône wines. Great cinema!
