Wine Description for La Haute Cirriére Extra Brut 2019 by Jérôme Blin

Colour & Appearance
Straw yellow with a delicate rosé shimmer, revealing the Pinot dominance. The fine, lively perlage bears witness to artisanal precision and nearly four years on the lees.
Nose
Fascinatingly multi-layered: waxed lemon zest and mandarins meet yellow plums and quinces. These are joined by meringue, a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon, mineral graphite and floral notes of almond blossom and violets. An aromatic profile that reflects both the maturity of the 50-year-old vines and the cool terroir equally.
Palate
The Champagne displays yellow fruit character with a characteristic waxy texture and a subtle woodruff note. The structure is impressive: fine pressure, agile minerality and lively perlage create tension. A discreet salinity coats the mouth and underscores the origin from clayey, silty chalk marl.
Finish
Medium length, fresh and mineral with a lingering note of citrus fruits and chalk.
Terroir & Origin
The La Haute Cirriére vineyard site is home to 50-year-old vines in clayey, silty chalk marl – a terroir that imparts depth and minerality. Jérôme Blin tends this single-vineyard Champagne with the utmost care.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A blend with a high proportion of Pinot Meunier and some Pinot Noir, entirely from the 2019 vintage. Aged in stainless steel, tirage in March 2020, disgorged in January 2024 with only 7 grams of dosage – a true Extra Brut. Limited production of just 700 bottles.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect as an aperitif or with smoked fish, oysters, scallops, goat’s cheese or mushroom risotto. The mineral structure also harmonises beautifully with sushi and ceviche.
Special Features
An authentic grower Champagne from a single vineyard site with impressive precision and terroir expression. The old vines and minimalist vinification create a Champagne that masterfully unites freshness and complexity.
