Nose
2016 Le Chevalier by Château Falfas presents itself very open, present and seems to have arrived at the pleasure window. The nose reveals abundant dark aromas. Morello cherry, blackberry, sweet cherry, blueberry and cassis set the tone. Earthy notes of beetroot, forest floor and undergrowth emerge. Dried porcini mushrooms and a little Perigord truffle are in the same vein. Fir forest, rosemary and savory provide a good ration of ethereal and herbal nuances. Black pepper, dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans spice things up nicely at the end.
Palate
On the palate, it then packs a punch. The fruit is acidic and extremely vital. The acid pressure builds directly and pushes it forward mightily. The tannin is perfectly integrated with a fine grain. Pleasantly tart on the palate and marked by haptics. Le Chevalier reveals its linear, polished side. At the same time, it shows plenty of coolness and juiciness. Racy, with drinking flow and draw. In the aftertaste, the earthy nuances, such as beetroot, forest soil, but also mushrooms, along with spicy fruit, continue to play their part for a long time.
