Info about the Crémant
This Crémant is made from 40 % Chenin Blanc and 60 % Grolleau Noir. The fruit comes from an old vineyard with green and purple slate, volcanic rock and quartz. Harvest early September 2020, bottling 21 December 2020, dégorgement after 15 months of lees ageing, 3g/l dosage.
Color/Look
Elegant mother-of-pearl, medium and broadly dispersed perlage.
Nose
On the nose, the 2020 Crémant de Loire Rosé shows pure elegance - roses, subtle fruit notes of small red berries, pomegranate and rosehip and a variety of wild herbs, such as tarragon, wild sage and elder wood. All components are beautifully interwoven with mineral depth, delicate earthy hints and subtle smoky notes. It almost seems to float.
Palate
On the palate, again the familiar gripping feeling, full of minerality, a salty trace and piquant spice. The fruit is discreet and playful, the little sweetness perfectly buffered by the demanding and lively perlage. Truly a rosé champagne in a class of its own, a real seducer on its own that scores points with elegance. It really comes into its own when combined with the right food.
