Tasting note
Character
A Pinot Noir of cool precision and fine definition – the hallmark of the house. The “Trilogie” displays the typical Lignier signature: clearly delineated fruit, fine-grained tannins and a pure, linear style built for length and elegance. A wine that lets the voice of its origin speak.
Terroir & Origin
Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, has been home to the Lignier family since the 1880s. Here, where Pinot Noir finds its finest expression on calcareous soils, Laurent Lignier runs the domaine as the fifth generation. The village lies between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny – a position that yields wines of particular finesse and depth.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Noir in its purest Burgundian form. Since 2007 the estate has dispensed with synthetic treatments in the vineyard, followed by organic certification in 2019. In the cellar, moved into in 2008, work is carried out exclusively by gravity – no pump touches the wine. Long, cool maceration times, an increasing proportion of whole bunches and restrained use of new wood, spread across four cooperages, shape the ageing.
Food Pairings
The fine tannin structure and cool fruit make this wine the ideal companion for pan-roasted duck breast, saddle of venison with lingonberries or coq au vin. It also shows its strengths alongside grilled salmon or mushroom dishes. The precision of the wine calls for dishes that do not overwhelm its elegance.
