Wine information
The Pinot Noir is called Flotsambecause the 2,533 bottles are all that remained of Julia Betram's and Benedikt Baltes' vintage after the devastating flood catastrophe on the Ahr. The hand-picked grapes were fermented spontaneously, not fortified, and aged in local oak barrels.
Color
Intense garnet red
Nose
The Pinot Noir - Flotsam - Offers the reductive nose typical of the house style of light buckeye and cassis, violet flowers, cherry and red berries along with herbs, stone and petrichor.
Palate
On the palate, the Pinot is juicy, fresh and pure. Here, too, the red and violet fruit is driven by a fine reduction. The wine has a pleasant tension and a grippy structure. Acidity, tannin and the crisp fruit provide harmony, a lot of drinkability and charm.
Food recommendations by Christoph Raffelt
- Gnocchi with beetroot and roasted yellow carrots
- Strips of marinated, only lightly fried saddle of beef with ox heart tomatoes
- Duck breast with lentils and oranges
