In the heart of Sicily, a good 65km southwest of Palermo, the winery is located in the free communal consortium of Trapani. The family business was founded by Vito's grandfather in 1958, but was abandoned in 1993 due to economic difficulties. Vito Lauria wanted to revive the winery and carry his family's vinophile heritage into the future. Familiar with his grandfather's working methods from an early age, he decided to study viticulture and oenology.
The production of a dry Zibibbo is one of the latest additions to the farm. Grown in the calcareous soils around Salemi, the grapes produce a dry, aromatic-floral wine. Harvested in early September, it is fermented in steel with a maceration period of 15 days.
Color
Strong straw yellow, radiant and clear.
Nose
Full of fruit, the 2022 Solerte from VinoLauria exudes its rich perfume of ripe mangoes, aromatic grapes, yellow-fleshed melon and dried fruit such as apple rings. In addition, there are floral accents that tie in with the Moscato theme - white-scented jasmine, mace and orange blossom are followed by aromas of mandarin oranges and a salty, fresh sea breeze.
Mouth
Once again, Vito Lauria knows how to mislead the willing drinker. On the nose, the Solerte is herbaceous and enormously taut with vibrant acidity that drives it relentlessly across the palate like a warm, pulsating bass. Highly defined with viscous extract and saline underpinnings, it quickly picks up speed. Elegant 12.5% makes for a quick refill of the goblet, and not just in the aperitif situation. Very zeitgeisty!
