Info about the wine

The grapes grow on volcanic soil at an altitude of 600 m on northern Etna. Partially destemmed, the grapes are fermented spontaneously and subjected to a 15-day maceration. After 12 months in wooden barrels, the wine is bottled without fining and filtration.

Color

Muted garnet red with delicate brick red reflections.

Nose

The 2017 San Theodoro from Massimo Lentsch beguiles with fresh red berry fruit, distinct floral notes of violets, dog roses and lavender and fresh rosemary. Layered on top is plenty of coolness, deep minerality and an unlikely depth. With more oxygen, cedar, incense and pink pepper berries join in. What an unusually beautiful drop opens up to us already in the nose!

Palate

What a freshness and elegance spreads only on the palate from forest raspberry, red currant, blackberry, cassis and blueberry, all finely interwoven. The whole is permeated by a fine tannin structure, a salty and stony minerality and an extremely animating acidity. This wine dances on the palate, it almost floats over the tongue, it seduces, it stimulates and it will accompany every dish excellently, because it never seems to be filling. A wine that you do not want to let go of and that gives pleasure and invigorates until the end!

Enjoy slightly chilled at about 15 °C from the carafe.
