Information
The Rosso di Montalcino shows the Cosmo di Salicutti, i.e. the house, the cellar and the courtyard as the centrepiece with gardens, fields, woods and the neighbouring cru called Vigna della Sorgente, Piaggione and Teatro. The fruit of the Rosso di Montalcino comes from the Vigna della Sorgente and Piaggione vineyards. The yield was around 25 hl/ha. The grapes were fermented spontaneously at up to 28 °C and then gently pressed. The wine was matured for 18 months in tonneaux and 5-hl and 10-hl barrels. The wine was then bottled unfiltered and aged for a further six months in the bottle.
Color
quite transparent cherry red
Nose
Salicutti's Rosso di Montalcino The aroma alone gives the impression of a classic and pure Sangiovese that has become rare today, with crisp sour cherry fruit and red fruit jelly. There are also tart cherry stone, walnut and herbal notes with a little blood orange juice.
Palate
Just as the nose suggested, this is pure Tuscan classicism that makes for great drinking pleasure. The Rosso di Montalcino is fresh and juicy with a clear acidity typical of Sangiovese and a pleasant extract, as well as a charming extract sweetness. The fruit is a mixture of sour and sweet cherries, some wild berries and cranberries. There are also notes of peat and undergrowth. It is a very clear and transparent Rosso with a lot of excitement.
