Nose
Fritsch's Red Veltliner from the Wagram is developing into a very independent growth. It cannot deny its aromatic distinction from the ubiquitous Grüner Veltliner. It appears light-toned and pure, yet it has a tendency towards rosehip and redcurrant. Litchi can be detected very delicately, as well as mirabelle plum and white peach. The latter picks up speed over time and has taken it upon itself to dominate the nose. Again and again, fresh herbs add support. Eucalyptus and finally bergamot provide its freshness.
Palate
With the first sip, it then underpins its racy, cool and elegant note. It shows edge and plenty of wet stone. This reveals many dark nuances and spice. It then leaves less room for the fruit. White flowers slowly build up again next to the herbal freshness. Its mineral structure goes very well with the low fruit content. The acid structure enlivens it immensely without being superficial. In the aftertaste, jasmine blossom and eucalyptus dominate.
