Wine information

Tempranillo is the predominant red wine grape in the wine-growing region of Toro. The grape variety is known there as "Tinta de Toro". This specific Tempranillo clone has adapted to the local conditions and developed smaller berries with thicker skins due to the high sun intensity. Therefore, the red wines from Toro are usually more powerful, darker and more tannic than their counterparts from Rioja. The Quinta Quietud Reserva 2017 comes from 30 to 60-year-old vines and from organic cultivation without artificial irrigation. A spontaneous fermentation of the grapes was followed by 24 months of ageing in French barriques.

Nose

The wine shows a ripe fruit of black cherry and dark plum in the bouquet as well as spicy notes of white pepper and liquorice. The toasty aromas, which come from the barrique ageing, are present and at the same time well integrated. They do not mask the wine. With air contact, the nose gains increasing complexity.

Palate

The wood aromas are also well integrated on the palate. The wine is berry, powerful and dense, but keeps a clear distance to the jamminess. The peppery spice and the prominent tannin provide a good grip on the palate and in the finish. The glycerine softens the powerful tannins and makes the wine more accessible. It has certainly reached drinking maturity, but can also lie for a few more years.
