Nose
The 2017 Les Petits Noizons Pommard from Domaine Derain is a picture-perfect Pommard. With a dark, meaty nose, it evokes smoke, roasted bacon, black tobacco and dried fruit. Parched meat and BBQ aromas clothe it in a smoky mysterious robe. After sufficient aeration, its clear cherry fruit emerges, brilliant and radiant under all that barbecue.
Mouth
Fleshy, firm, dense and punchy, the Pommard fills the mouth. Juicy full with smoky dark spice after tobacco, leather and BBQ flavors, it accelerates visibly thanks to the quicken acid nerve, which circumnavigates the sluggishness, glues rally stripes on it instead and rushes quickly over the cherry-fruity home stretch. The bottle is empty in no time. Of course, you could leave it there. But you don't have to.
