Info about the wine
The Grand Cru Goldert is located north of the village of Gueberschwihr . Facing east, the rich oolitic marl of Goldert offers cooler growing conditions, perfect water retention and a late ripening climate. It is arguably one of the best sites in Alsace for Muscat d'Alsace and the creation of a dry, structured and long-lived wine. The limestone provides minerality and balance. In 2018, the skins were perfectly ripe, a very important factor to vinify a Muscat that is not varietal driven. The harvest was healthy with good acid structure. Fermentation usually takes a full year or more. This ensures that it presents itself bone dry in 2018.
Color
Sparkling golden yellow.
Nose
The 2018 Muscat Goldert shows itself incredibly compact in the nose and equipped with a lot of minerality. After sufficient aeration, it reveals an aromatic and at the same time fresh bouquet of fresh Muscat grapes in the top note, pineapple and fresh ginger. Fragrant elderflower notes, acacia and privet join seductively. For all its elegance and fragrance, this animating wine hides a complex drop with depth, shaped by the terroir.
Palate
On the palate it seems surprisingly fresh and pleasantly dry. Stimulating fruit notes of fresh pineapple, lemon and grapefruit combine with a fresh acidity, salty notes and a stimulating spiciness in the long finish. An excellent palate opener, food companion and a wine with storage potential.
