Wine information
Lilium is a dry white wine from Château Climens. The 2022 is the first vintage. It is a wine made from 100 % Sémillon from red clayey sand and limestone and thus from the unique terroir of Climens. The vineyard has been cultivated biodynamically since 2010 according to demeter-certification. Around 45 hectolitres per hectare were harvested. The vines are around 15 years old and were planted at a density of 6,000 per hectare. Only the heart of the pressing was used. The wine was matured for nine months in Wineglobes.
Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
The Lilium is fragrant and quite intense on the nose. With its mixture of yellow plum, quince and green apple, a little wax, mint and white flowers, you could easily mistake it for a Chenin Blanc from Anjou if you tasted it blind. Overall, this is a fine, noble bouquet.
Taste
On the palate the Bordeaux Blanc Sec from Barzac is much more expressive. There is a lot of volume, a lot of energy and a lot of substance. The Lilium has a fine texture, offering notes of ripe apricots and peaches, some orange, quince and yellow apple. But there is also the typical waxy note of Sémillon, reminiscent of liquorice. This is complemented by a clear, precise but soft acidity structure that successfully counteracts the volume and spiciness, balancing the wine impressively and leading to a long finish.
