Background information on wine:
Le Mont, a highly revered vineyard in the appellation, towers above the Tuffeau caves on the first Vouvray plateau towards the south. Its heritage and ability to produce excellent, enduring wines has brought it immense fame.

Location details:
With nine hectares of fiery flint soil and rich green clay, this site delivers an exceptional expression of the Chenin Blanc variety. This soil gives the wine intensity, minerality and an intricate structure that is underlined by the pleasant acidity.

Color:
A bright and intense golden yellow.

Bouquet:
The 2018 Vouvray Le Mont 1ère Trie Moelleux entices with the scents of dried apricots, orange peel, orange marmalade, quince, apple, white chocolate and acacia honey. With enough time, equally powerful, fresh notes of passion fruit and ginger reveal themselves. Elegance and depth characterise this captivating wine that is just beginning to unfold.

Taste:
On the palate, the amazing complexity and versatility of this noble sweet wine is confirmed, as already discovered in the nose. Besides the sweetness, we encounter a lively acidity, a profound minerality, a startling saline tone and a captivating spiciness. The immense finish not only suggests an enormous ageing potential, but also shows that the wine has not yet reached its zenith. Large glasses or a carafe are essential, alternatively you can just give it a few more years of rest!

Alternative food recommendations:
Enjoy this wine with a pâté of pure foie gras or accompany it with a spicy Thai salad with star anise, cinnamon and strips of beef fillet. For dessert lovers, a baked elderflower cake with white ginger chocolate ice cream and a Vouvray sabayon could be a pleasing choice.
