Nose
A nose like a continent, if you are looking for superlatives to describe density, complexity and complexity, you want to squeeze greatness into a few lines. The wine is most like a great perfume that is not only divided into top, heart and base notes, but always includes the wearer. And so the 1997 Le Mont Moelleux 1ère Trie from Domaine Huet does the same as a perfume and entices with orange oil and dried quince in the top note. This is followed by kumquats, candied fruit and delicate spicy notes of light tobacco leaf, white pepper, turmeric and saffron. Despite the conglomeration of flavors, the nose is completely clear, crystalline and precise - an example of maturity without age-flag. Superb!
Mouth
On the nose, the 1997 Le Mont is juicy with a relaxed, unexcited texture. The youthful viscosity has given way to a casual drinking flow, clear mouthfeel meets perfect maturity, some lime zest provides aromatic freshness. Wiry and shimmering, it flows across the palate with a fine, piquant acidity and a powerful, mineral, pleasant finish. A wine that wins over sufficient air supply and should be enjoyed from large but closed white wine glasses.
