Nose
The nose of the 1990 Le Mont Moelleux 1ère Trie from Domaine Huet shines with its unique youthfulness and freshness. Like a prism, it bursts into citrus top notes, lime and acacia blossom and a little lemon oil and mandarin marmalade. All underpinned by fresh yeast plait, caramel, orange liqueur, young cognac and white Montelimar nougat. A few grates of milk chocolate, pistachios and a light Virginia tobacco leaf as well as a handful of dried apricots made the wheel go round.
Mouth
The nose of the 1990 Le Mont is oily and dense with a medium intensity. The once-primary youthful sweetness plays second fiddle at most here, as the wine shines with its elegant spicy notes, which, like a good curry, are characterized by perfect proportions. The acidity is electric as an electric eel and stretches from the attack to the epic finish. The wine has immense tension, nothing is fat, nothing is broad. This is a wine with a dramatically long, mineral-cool, ambrosial finish. 26 years old and nowhere near the end. Spek-ta-ku-lär.
