Info about the wine
In 2006, this Riesling was again given the name of the probably best-known wine village of the Rhine Terrace, in whose district a large part of the vineyards of the winery are located. Carolin and H.O. believe that there is a "genius loci" of Nierstein that can be expressed in the wines - what today is often called terroir.
Brilliant golden yellow with clear green reflections.
A mineral, smoky attack, many herbs and a hint of liquorice, off into the carafe with it, then fresh apple, citrus, grapefruit and elderberry notes appear. Cool, refreshing, compact and precise, complex and juicy. A beautiful Riesling at the beginning of its development.
On the tongue, the 2021 Nierstein Riesling VDP. Erste Lage is playful, juicy, demanding and distinctive, invigorating, full of expression and minerality.
A wine with a very good ageing potential, which will show itself even more complex and exciting with a few years of maturity. A reference for the Rote Hang in Nierstein, very great class!
Be sure to aerate and enjoy from large glasses.
