Wine description for Moravia Bobal & Albillo Real Vino Tinto 2020 from Jimenez - Landi
- Colour & appearance
- Deep, muted purple with lively violet reflections - a wine that reveals its youthfulness and concentration in the glass.
- Nose
- Enchantingly opulent and dark: black cherries and ripe blackberries merge with pickled figs and fine dark chocolate. With air contact, notes develop from sweet mocha and Liquorice. The flavours alternate fascinatingly between lush fruitiness and an omnipresent mineral complexity - masculine, profound, seductive.
- Palate
- The Moravia is dense and structured with concentrated dark fruit and a fine sweetness. The concise tannin structure is elegantly integrated by the fruity sweetness, while an invigorating freshness provides balance. Lots of Umami in play - a wine with substance and soul that combines power with finesse.
- Departure
- Long, spicy and persistent with lingering notes of dark chocolate and mineral depth. The tannins remain present but supple.
- Terroir & origin
- This exceptional wine comes from the DO Mentrida, west of Madrid. The hundred-year-old vines roots at extreme altitudes of 1,100 metres on Granite and sandy soils - Conditions that ensure enormous concentration and freshness at the same time. Biodynamic cultivation according to the strictest principles.
- Grape variety & vinification
- A rare cuvée from Bobal and Albillo Real, two indigenous Spanish grape varieties. Hand-picked, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts bottled in French wooden barrels, unfiltered and unstabilised. Only 1,200 bottles of this uncompromising craftsmanship are produced - natural wine at the highest level.
- Food pairing suggestions
- Perfect for Duck liver tartlet with blackberry jelly and dark chocolate, Black-feathered chicken with truffle, blueberries and celeriac puree or Bleu d'Auvergne with pickled blackcurrants. The wine harmonises perfectly with dishes that combine sweet, spicy and chocolaty components.
- Special features
- A sophisticated feel-good wine par excellence that impressively demonstrates the renaissance of old Spanish grape varieties and extreme locations. The combination of biodynamic cultivation, ancient vines and minimalist cellar technology creates a wine of rare authenticity and strength of character.
