Info
The Dolcetto grapes only come from our own vineyards and grow on a very old formation of calcareous to clayey soils, which are shaded in colour from light grey to pink. Veins of pebbles, calcium carbonate and iron also appear time and again.
After fermentation in steel tanks, the wine is aged for one year in small wood to enhance its attributes and characteristics.

Dense purple with violet reflections and light rim
Nose
The 2021 Barbera d'Alba from Chiara Boschis combines the darkest fruit with cool finesse in the glass. Mulberries, morello cherries, sour cherries and blackberries flow intensely from the domed glass. Cassis and elderberry follow immediately. The fruit is perfectly ripe and yet exudes an impression of freshness. There are also attributes of wet stones, cold nights and lightness. Eucalyptus, mint and rosemary add ethereal components. White pepper and a touch of liquorice then add a further dimension and layer of aromatic diversity.
Palate
On the palate, it lives up to all these expectations. The fruit is intensely proportioned but concentrated in a fine stream. It comes across as cool and fortunately with plenty of acidity. With plenty of astringency, it gains a high degree of drinkability. Roasted hazelnuts and a hint of dark chocolate are almost typical of Piedmont. Only a fine tannin coats the palate. On the finish, the fine herbal spice comes into its own again.
