Wine description for Clos du Bourg demi-sec 2022 375ml by Huet

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow, luminous and clear – a colour that already hints at the concentration and ripeness of the vintage.
Nose
Juicy, creamy and bewitchingly silky, this demi-sec presents itself with opulence. The nose unfolds a sumptuous fruit palette of ripe apples, pears and quinces, which oscillates between crisp freshness and mellow maturity. Kumquats bring a juicy-tart nuance into play, whilst subtle smoky notes and white flowers provide complexity and elegance.
Palate
The attack is full, round and of impressive depth. Yellow fruit dominates – ripe apples and pears in perfect harmony. The juiciness is positively overwhelming, carried by a precise, supporting acidity that lends the wine structure and longevity. Here Huet’s mastery reveals itself: this fascinating balance between depth and lightness, between fullness and finesse makes the wine already nearly irresistible – although it will undoubtedly gain considerable complexity in the years to come.
Terroir & Origin
The Clos du Bourg is one of France’s oldest Grand Cru vineyard sites, documented as far back as the 7th century. The six-hectare parcel, enclosed by stone walls and situated above the church of Vouvray, rests on Turonian tuffeau limestone, which the vines reach after just one metre. The soil of clay with flint and chalk inclusions imparts the wine its characteristic minerality and depth.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Chenin Blanc in perfection. Harvesting began on 8 September – the second-earliest date in the estate’s history – and extended over six weeks. Heat waves and drought led to heterogeneously ripened material, which was meticulously sorted through multiple passes. Spontaneous fermentation, ageing in used demi-muids, 18 grams residual sugar.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Salmon with za’atar and tahini, ceviche de aguaymanto, tart with Roquefort and goat’s cheese, but also with spicy Asian dishes or poultry in cream sauce.
Special Characteristics
A wine that puts patience to the test – for as seductive as it already is, its true potential will only unfold in a few years‘ time. Typical Huet: great Vouvray artistry in half-litre format.
