Hidden Treasures is a project by Roland Velich, Moric. Together with partner winemakers from Hungary, he wants to bring Hungary's treasures back into the wine world. Velich realised project number 1 in the Tokaj region together with Gergö Fliep. The single-varietal Furmint is grown on volcanic soils and was matured in large wood.
Color
Pale yellow with green reflections.
Nose
The nose of the 2021 Hidden Treasures No. 1 Tokaj, feat. Gergö Fliep and Moric is anything but chatty. With a little air, it tells of citrus fruits, flowers and the oils of the shell in a calm tone, along with oyster shell and subtle smoky notes in the overtone range. Lemon balm, chervil and borage complete the round-up.
Mouth
It opens the palate with a frivolously citrusy tip on the nose and continues through to the salty finish. Vertical with a good punch, it immediately makes you salivate so much that you simply drink yourself thirsty with this trouvaille - a vicious circle! The fine phenolic lashes the tongue and provides additional drinking flow for this already fast-paced affair. Straightforward, cheeky and rebellious, a rounded affair.
