Wine Description for Corton Grand Cru „Les Renardes“ AOC 2021 by Henri & Gilles Buisson

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, medium ruby red with garnet reflections. Brilliant clarity that reflects meticulous work in the vineyard – typical of Domaine Buisson’s transparent style.
Nose
Fascinatingly multi-layered: ripe red cherries and raspberries meet wild strawberries. Beneath, noble spice with cedarwood, graphite and a hint of undergrowth. The biodynamic viticulture reveals itself in the vibrant minerality and floral notes of violets and rose petals. With air contact, subtle truffle nuances develop.
Palate
Powerful yet elegant – the paradox of great Cortons. Silky tannins envelop the palate, the acidity is precise and carries the wine effortlessly. Dark cherries, cassis and blackberries meld with mineral notes of flint. The 13% alcohol is perfectly integrated. Despite its youth, the wine already displays impressive complexity and that characteristic transparency for which the Buisson family has been renowned for generations.
Finish
Long, persistent and lively. The fruit lingers, carried by fine minerality and a spicy component. A wine with many years ahead of it, yet already demonstrating its Grand Cru credentials.
Terroir & Origin
Les Renardes sits on the slope of the Corton hill and benefits from chalky soils with red marl. The vineyard site ranks among the most renowned Grand Cru parcels of the Côte de Beaune. Biodynamic viticulture according to Biodyvin standards since 2018 (in practice since the 1960s) allows the terroir to speak unadulterated.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Roasted pigeon, duck breast with cherry sauce, Coq au Vin, rare roasted venison loin, aged Comté or Époisses de Bourgogne. Also an excellent choice with mushroom dishes with truffle.
Special Features
From a family with documented winemaking tradition since 1758. The Domaine has practised organic viticulture since the 1960s – decades before it became a trend. The 2021 vintage is considered challenging in Burgundy, but precision-focused winemakers such as the Buissons have produced exceptional wines.
