Wine information
The Private label red is a wine based on the principle of the solera. The base wine is from the 2020 vintage , and this has been blended with wines from 2021, 2019 to 2016, 2014 and 2012. The Private label red is to a certain extent a basic wine and at the same time the only red wine that does not consist of 100 % of Blaufränkisch. More than half of the blend is Rotburger , 25 % is Merlot, which was predominantly fermented with whole grapes, 10 % Pinot Noir, also fermented with whole grapes, and Blaufränkisch. To give the wine its finesse, the 2016, 2014 and 2012 batches are 100 % Blaufränkisch. Spontaneous fermentation took place in open vats for about three to four weeks, some with stems, spontaneous malolactic fermentation and ageing in wood from 500 to 4,000 litres. There was neither fining nor filtration, and only tiny amounts of SO2 added.

Nose
The Private label red is a wine that you want to drink and enjoy directly in large sips. This is already revealed by the fresh and herbaceous bouquet, where notes of elderberries, cherries and blackberries mingle with undergrowth, some moss, garden herbs and rocks.
Palate
On the palate, the house brand quickly blossoms and becomes impressively multi-layered alongside all the sweetness. Roland Velich is not good at simple wines - at least not in the sense of low quality. The Hausmarke presents itself as an ambitious wine. Burgenland with a mixture of very dark fruit, interspersed with some red berries, fermented dark tobacco, herbs and some peat. The acidity is striking, giving the wine an enormous pull and delivering exactly what one already expects in the aroma.
